Beef magazine recently released their Seedstock 100, listing the biggest seedstock producers in the beef industry by number of bulls marketed in 2018.
A lot of great seedstock operations in our part of the country. 33 of those top 100 operations are located in Northern Ag Network Country. With 18 in Montana, 9 in South Dakota, 4 in Wyoming and 2 in North Dakota.
These operations marketed over 56,000 bulls in 2018, down just slightly from last year but over 25% more than just 5 years ago.
The top 100 operations marketed 32 different breeds and composites last year, although the majority focused on 6 breeds. 72% of the operations offered Angus cattle down slightly, 23% red angus actually see more red angus, 14% Hereford, 13% sim-angus, 11% Charolias and 8% Simmental.

All Farm Service Agency (FSA) service centers will be open beginning January 24 to provide the majority of FSA services needed by farmers and ranchers during this critical time of the year for agricultural operations. Additionally, the limited FSA loan services initially made available at certain FSA county offices beginning January 17 will continue January 22 and 23.
