Sophi Davis bested three other competitors to win the Montana Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Discussion Meet. She got the keys to a Ranger® 570 EFI and an all-expense paid trip to compete in the national competition in Nashville in January. Ag Coalition Takes Action Against California’s Flawed Classification of Environmentally-Safe Herbicide

Washington, D.C. (November 15, 2017) – Agriculture groups from across the country today joined forces to file a lawsuit in federal court against the State of California for ignoring science and conclusions from regulatory bodies around the world in a fundamentally flawed regulatory classification of Glyphosate, an environmentally-safe and widely-used herbicide. The Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration announced a comment period this week on an agricultural exemption under the Electronic Logging Device mandate. The American Sheep Industry Association has continued to work collaboratively and across both the legislative and regulatory regimes to ensure exemptions to the Hours of Service regulations remain in place for livestock haulers during the transition from paper to electronic logging.  >> Read More

China/Montana Beef Trade Deal Struck

U.S. Senator Steve Daines and the Montana Stockgrowers Association have helped secure an agreement between JD.com, one of China’s largest retailers and Montana ranchers the with the intent to purchase a minimum of $200 million in Montana-sourced beef over the next several years. JD.com will also seek to invest up to another $100 million to build a processing plant in Montana to support Montana beef production, with construction beginning as early as 2018. >> Read More
