Proposed Restriction of Imports of Mexican Cattle To Montana

The Montana Department of Livestock is proposing an amendment to an existing state law regarding the importation of cattle from Mexico. Concern over Bovine Tuberculosis was raised during the 2017 Montana Legislature over TB cases found in herds in South Dakota and Canada. Those positive TB cases not only caused huge economic loss and stress for producers and communities but witnessed the disposal of cattle herds and lengthy quarantines of ranches for months on end.  The legislature ran out of time to address the issue before the session ended. >> Read More

Update: Grizzlies in Judith Basin

Update: Northern Ag Network spoke with Greg Lemon the head of public information for Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks today. FWP collaborated rancher reports that a total of four calves were killed on two ranches near Stanford, MT on Sunday. The livestock were reported to be killed either later Friday night or early Saturday morning. Both USDA Wildlife Services and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks worked to set up trapping efforts to capture the bears. The grizzlies were two young male siblings.

Anyone within the path of totality can see one of nature’s most awe-inspiring sights - a total solar eclipse. This path, where the moon will completely cover the sun and the sun's tenuous atmosphere - the corona - can be seen, will stretch from Lincoln Beach, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina.
