With the 2012 Farm Bill hearings already underway, market conditions atop people's minds, free trade with Mexico in full swing, and continued international trade talks, this Symposium in beautiful Vail, CO will prove to be both informative and newsworthy.

The event allows visitors to meet with the banks, area producers, state and local officials, researchers and processors. The Center for Rural Affairs, North Dakota Department of Agriculture and National Farm to School Network will host a timely educational workshop on connecting schools to local farmers and ranchers in providing fresh, nutritious local food in school lunch programs.
The workshop will held at the North Dakota Area Rural Electric Cooperative Ulmer Center at 3201 Nygren Drive Northwest in Mandan, ND. The event is open to the public and participation costs $25; the fee covers lunch and material costs. The Montana Cattle Women are sponsoring the 8th Annual State Beef Cook-Off at the Great Falls State Fair! "Teens in the Kitchen" will take place in the Family Living Center at the Montana State Fairgrounds between 1:30pm and 4:30pm and winners will be announced at 5:00pm. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places: $150, $75 and $50 respectively.
"Teens in the Kitchen" will create their own fun beef recipe that promotes nutritional balance, is loved by teens and has all-family appeal. Any teenager between the ages of 13 - 18 years old may enter the contest. Teens must be able to prepare and display the beef dish without assistance. The entry deadline is July 19th!

The 2nd oldest cowboy poetry gathering in the country will be held in Lewistown. The event has been featured in Particia Schultz's travel book, "1,000 Places in the US and Canada to See Before You Die," as well as being lsted as one of the top 100 events of 2010 by the American Bus Association.
This year's event features over 50 "real deal" cowboy poets and western musicians, FREE Western Art & Gear Show, Friday night Jam 'n Dance, Saturday night Western Music Showcase and Stage Show starring Red Steagall, with special appearances by Henry Real Bird and Gwen Petersen.

Saturday, displays include a working sawmill and shingle mill, a kiddie pedal tractor pull, corn-on-cob steamed by a steam engine, threshing and binding, dutch oven bread baking, and homemade ice cream by a stationary engine! At noon there will be an antique tractor pull and trailer backing, and musical entertainment will be provided throughout the day. Then, at 2:00pm, don't miss the Parade of Power!
