Diversity, Direction and Dollars Forum-NDSU

Diversity, Direction and Dollars forum set for Jan. 17
The forum will feature speakers on topics affecting agriculture in the western Dakotas and eastern Montana.

Acidic soils, herbicide resistant weeds, financial considerations and technology are just some of the topics covered during North Dakota State University’s Diversity, Direction and Dollars 2024 agricultural forum set for Wednesday, Jan. 17 at the Biesiot Activities Center in Dickinson, North Dakota.

The keynote speaker is Rob Sharkey, known online as The SharkFarmer. Sharkey is an Illinois grain farmer, whitetail deer hunting outfitter, podcast and radio show host, and host of multiple TV shows on RFD-TV and PBS.

“The forum will feature speakers on topics affecting agriculture in the western Dakotas and eastern Montana,” says Kurt Froelich, NDSU Extension Stark-Billings County agent, who is hosting the event. “It will provide producers with ideas for improving productivity and decreasing costs while providing high quality food produced in a sustainable manner.”

The program will begin with registration at 8:15 a.m. MST.

Presenters and their topics are:

  • Chris Augustin, Dickinson Research Extension Center director – Acidic Soils Update for Southwestern North Dakota
  • Brian Jenks, North Central Research Extension Center weed scientist – Herbicide Resistant Weeds and Best Practice Strategies for Control
  • Rob Sharkey (The SharkFarmer) – Sharks Don’t Swim Backwards
  • Bryon Parmon, NDSU Extension agricultural finance specialist – Financial Considerations for the 2024 Cropping Season
  • Rob Proulx, NDSU Extension agricultural technology systems specialist – Drone Application and Uses
  • Jakob Voight, Gooseneck Implement – John Deere See and Spray Technology

“Producers should come away with good ideas they can apply to their farm during the next cropping season and ways to position their farming operation to take advantage of the changes occurring,” says Froelich.

A registration fee of $30 covers all breaks, the noon lunch and materials, and is payable at the door. See the complete agenda at ndsu.ag/2024agforum.
