A New Farm Bill in the Next Seven Days?

by

Eighty farm groups are in Washington, DC this week talking to members of Congress and pushing for passage of a new Farm Bill within the next 7 days.  Seven days is the work time left before our Senators and Representatives go back on recess to campaign.  Chris Christiaens is the Legislative Specialist with the Montana Farmers Union and finds himself in the midst of this effort.

If Congress really wanted to, they could stay in DC for an additional 20 days in September.  However that looks to be rather unlikely with campaigns already in full swing.  This lobbying effort will conclude tomorrow with a “Farm Bill Now!” rally.
