A Young Cowboy and His Fight Against Cancer

by

Wacee Simenson, the son of Justin and Tomi Simenson from Chinook, MT, just received unexpected news that Wacee has a large cancerous mass in his chest. He was flown to Kalispell for immediate treatment and then this weekend to Denver Children's hospital.

According to his GoFundMe page this updated was shared by Justin and Tomi:

Wacee's biopsy showed cancer cells. They won't know if it's lymphoma or leukemia until Monday. He has been started on his first dose of chemo. There is worry that with the size of the tumor, it may affect his kidneys when it shrinks rapidly from the chemo, and he might require dialysis. They aren't equipped for that in Kalispell, so Wacee and Tomi will be life flighted to Denver in the morning, and Justin will fly out Tuesday. Tomorrow is a good travel day because there is supposed to be a window of better weather, and because they won't have results until Monday anyway, so tomorrow is kind of a waiting day.

The doctors told them that best case scenario is that they will be in Denver a week, and then go back to Kalispell to continue treatments. They said more probable is that they will be in Denver a month or more, and then be able to continue treatment in Kalispell after that. Kalispell and Denver have a good working relationship, and Denver has been overseeing his care, and will continue to do so.

Tomi said that they told her this mass has probably only been growing in him for 2 weeks. She said that it has changed just since yesterday, and today he's having some trouble breathing, which is why they wanted to get the chemo going right away. The doctors are very optimistic for a good outcome.
