2015 All Breeds Cattle Tour set for south central North Dakota
 
The North Dakota Stockmen's Association's All Breeds Cattle Tour will feature nine producers and six breeds of cattle in the Steele, N.D., area on Friday, Oct. 2.
 
The day begins with registration at the Cobblestone Inn in Steele, N.D., at 7:30 a.m. Meals and transportation are provided during the tour and there is no cost to attend. The All Breeds Cattle Tour bus will depart from Steele at 8 a.m.
 
In its 29th year, the All Breeds Cattle Tour features an impressive group of seedstock producers that includes:
 
Deckert Simmental Ranch
The Deckert Simmental Ranch near Arena is the tour's first stop. For more than 48 years, the family has bred purebred cattle. Today, Justin and Carrie Deckert manage the purebred Simmental operation. The Deckert family will serve breakfast during their tour stop.
 
Kal-Kota Ranch
Ed and Anne Kalianoff and their son Michael manage the Kal-Kota Ranch near Steele, N.D. The family has bred Gelbvieh and Red Angus purebred cattle for 41 years. Today, the family runs 275 purebred Red Angus and Gelbvieh cows.
 
C-Diamond Simmentals
Neil and Carmen Nicholson and their family own and operate C-Diamond Simmental Ranch south of Dawson. The diversified ranch maintains a large, spring-calving cowherd of both purebred and commercial Simmentals.
 
Koester Red Angus
Steve and Tracey Koester operate Koester Red Angus along with their daughters, Kacey and Shaye. The family focuses on producing long-aged bulls developed through their fall calving program. Lunch will be served at the Koester Red Angus stop.
 
Crosshair Simmentals
Crosshair Simmentals, located south of Dawson, N.D., is owned and operated by Ben and Cassie Kleppe and their family. The Kleppes run a cow-calf operation consisting of 170 registered Simmental and Sim-Angus cows along with 300 commercial Simmental- and Red-Angus-cross cows.
 
Thompson Angus
Berent and Nancy Thompson operate Thompson Angus near Kintyre, N.D. The family focuses on fertility and genetic performance in their registered herd.
 
Potterosa Limousin
Roger and Donna Potter operate Potterosa Limousin near Braddock, N.D. Roger bought his first Limousin heifer in 1974. Today, the Potters' herd includes 75 pure bred cows. The Potters have shown and promoted Limousin cattle in the Midwest and at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colo.
 
TLC Vetsch Angus
Thomas and Charlet Vetsch operate TLC Vetsch Angus with their son Lee. The family started its purebred Angus herd in 2001 with the goal of developing bulls and females that are functional, powerful, sure-footed, gentle, athletic and free-moving.
 
Bichler Simmentals
The Bichler Simmental program has grown significantly since the family began hosting its production sale in 2005. The Bichler ranch near Linton consists of approximately 200 cows. The. The ranch focuses on its cowherd and culls heavily for not only performance, but also traits like disposition, udder quality and structural soundness.
 
Tour attendees will enjoy a social and prime rib supper at Bichlers at the conclusion of the tour. There will also be a drawing for a $500 gift certificate for the purchase of seedstock from a breeder on the tour.
