Despite a few weather hiccups in some parts of our region, the USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service reports that we saw some pretty good progress over the last week.
As of this past Sunday, Montana’s winter wheat harvest is now 38{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} complete. That’s up from just 13{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} last week but still substantially below the 80{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} 5-year-average. Montana’s spring wheat harvest is 7{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} complete compared to the multi-year average of 39{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4}.
North Dakota spring wheat is 27{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} harvested, up from that slow 3{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} that we saw at this time in 2009 but below the 5-year-average of 38{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4}.
81{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} of South Dakota spring wheat has now seen the combine, which is slightly above average.
Wyoming winter wheat is 85{4d08edaf359bc2115b18a651716ebd427a137946ddca2143fa23b3ea721061e4} harvested, slightly behind last year and the average.
