Baseball Has a Long History in Montana

Stacey had a baseball team from 1910 to 1930. Here the team poses with their manager. (The town, located in Powder River County northwest of Broadus, is no longer on the map.)  The first reported baseball team in Montana was formed in 1866 in Virginia City, and many towns across Montana had teams and rivalries that generated intense interest and loyalties tied up with community pride even before the 20th century . That’s why it is still called America’s and Montana’s game.
