Contact your Congressmen during August Recess

by

The August Recess/State Work Period runs through September 7.

The following is a press release from the Montana Farm Bureau:

The Montana Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) is urging farmers, ranchers and anyone concerned about rural issues to contact their U.S. Congressmen during the August Recess/State Work Period which runs through September 7. The 113th Congress, second session, convenes Sept. 8 in Washington, D.C.

“This is a great time to drop by the offices of our Congressmen and let them know what’s on your mind,” noted MFBF Executive Vice President John Youngberg. “There are plenty of national issues of concern to farmers and ranchers, including the threat of listing sage grouse as an Endangered Species, regulatory overreach of the Environmental Protection Agency, and implementation of the farm bill.”

Generally during August and early September, Congressmen are back in the state, holding town meetings and attending community events.

“Go to an event or stop by their offices, say hello and let them know what’s on your mind,” says Youngberg. “We are especially fortunate in Montana to be able to sit down one-on-one with our Congressmen and share ideas.  Take this time to make a connection.”
