Fatal Crash Involving Tractor Reported in Northeast Montana

by
GLENDIVE –A North Dakota man was killed Thursday when he collided with a farm tractor in northeastern Montana, according to highway patrol on Friday.

The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m.

A 58-year-old North Dakota man was southbound in a Dodge pickup truck on Highway 516 in Sheridan County, just a few miles from the North Dakota state border.

When the man entered the intersection, the truck collided with a westbound commercial tractor.

The tractor was driven by a 46-year-old Canadian man who was not injured in the crash.

The patrol said it was unclear who had the right-of-way. It's also unknown whether the man in the truck was wearing a seat belt, but the man on the tractor was restrained.

Drugs, alcohol and speed are not considered factors in the crash.

Roads were slick and snow-covered at the time of the crash, the patrol said.

The investigation is ongoing.

This was the sixth fatality on Montana roadways in 2017.
