Hoofin’ It for Hunger Race in Miles City Offers Virtual Category

Love being a couch potato? Too busy fixing fence to drive to Miles City? You can stay curled up on the couch or keep hanging onto that tamping bar and still “run” in the Montana Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Hoofin’ It for Hunger Race Oct. 8 in Miles City.

Held in October each year, the YF&R Committee partners with USDA-ARS Fort Keogh Research Station to pull together this 5K, 10K and Half Marathon trail run benefiting the Montana Food Bank Network.  New this year, people have the option to sign up as a virtual runner, meaning they still register and “get the

T-shirt” while contributing to the Montana Food Bank Network – yet don’t have to be there.

The main focus of this event is running, so if you’re a runner, sign up today for the half-marathon, 10K or 5K.  There is also a one-mile walk for people who just want to take it easy, enjoy the scenery, and get a little exercise.

Show up Friday, Oct. 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Range Riders’ Museum in Miles City. to receive your event packet as well as have a free dinner. Bring a friend to dinner, too. It’s a freewill donation for guests.

Registration fees are $50 (half-marathon), $40 (10K) and $30 (5K and virtual). Race start time varies from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., depending on the category. The awards ceremony is slated for 11:30 a.m. Join your fellow runners for more camaraderie following the event at the Trails Inn Tap Haus.

This event is part of a larger partnership between YF&R programs across the country and Feeding America.  Whether the contribution is a bushel – a dollar – or an hour, Farm Bureau and Feeding America is working together to finish an important job – making sure every American can enjoy the bounty produced on our farms and ranches.  The Montana Farm Bureau YF&R Committee is proud to have raised over $29,000 dollars for the Montana Food Bank Network.
