In a unanimous vote Monday morning, the Montana Land Board approved the sale of the Milk River Ranch, northwest of Havre, to Fish, Wildlife and Parks and the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.
Ron Aasheim, MT Fish Wildlife and Parks, told Northern Ag Network about the purchase of the ranch last week.While Land Board members all voted in favor of the acquisition, most of the public comment received during Monday’s meeting was against the purchase. Some thought the land was appraised to high. That accompanied calls that the government should not be in the land-buying business.
While the purchase was approved by the Land Board, it is not said and done. The final say will now be left to a Montana FWP Commission vote.
