An all-new PRCA pro rodeo begins in Billings at the 2025 MontanaFair in an all-new outdoor arena at MetraPark. Rodeo Billings will take center stage as the first event in the newest outdoor arena in Montana, August 14-16 of 2025.
NILE, the longtime producer of the oldest rodeo in Billings announced today Rodeo Billings will bring pro rodeo’s biggest names and an all-star lineup of bucking horses and bulls. Rodeo Billings will become one of the most sought after wins on the PRCA circuit as it will fall in the most prime time for rodeo athletes to win dollars for the National Finals Rodeo.
“We are excited to be able to promote and produce the MontanaFair rodeo and bring back a huge fan favorite, PRCA rodeo outdoors,” stated NILE president Bobby Miller. “There has been a big void in Billings since the last outdoor rodeo took place at the MontanaFair almost a decade ago. NILE is very pleased to bring it back for the rodeo fans,” Miller added.
NILE now under the leadership of longtime sports marketing veteran David Allen is moving the PRCA rodeo from the October NILE event to the August time frame to begin a rebranding of the NILE rodeo events. Allen has directed this change to capitalize on the outdoor venue and the appetite for outdoor pro rodeo in “hot August nights” of Montana.
“This is a huge step forward for NILE and the MontanaFair. We are increasing our added prize money significantly,” Allen added.
Yellowstone County Commissioner John Ostlund stated, “This is a tremendous opportunity to bring the rodeo knowledge of Mr. Allen, and NILE, combined with the experience of our Metra staff to showcase the new outdoor arena for a spectacular Rodeo event. The County is proud to have a decades long partnership with the NILE. This new endeavor allows an opportunity to bring the best Rodeo entertainment to the community during the MontanaFair. To have this come to fruition for the 110th anniversary of MontanaFair only makes it that much better.”
The addition of this new arena gives NILE the opportunity to create a family friendly show featuring the elites of rodeo, showcasing some native American culture and utilizing many Montanans in the key roles of bullfighting, rodeo clown, music director, announcer and stock contractor. Contract personnel will be announced in the coming weeks for Rodeo Billings 2025.
MetraPark General Manager Stoney Field added, “The opportunity to team up with NILE is very exciting for us. Mr. Allen’s knowledge of the industry, as well as his contacts, will put the best rodeo action in front of this deserving community. We feel so fortunate to be working with NILE to create a long-term solution to bring the highest caliber of rodeo animal and human athletes to compete for the best fans in the nation. An event of this magnitude will bring Billings to the forefront of the rodeo industry.”
“We are going to make Rodeo Billings a premiere pro rodeo combined with a celebration of the western lifestyle and family entertainment, all in one package,” said Allen.
“I can’t thank the Yellowstone County commissioners enough for their support and commitment to building a new outdoor venue that will bring multiple levels of entertainment to Billings and Yellowstone County. This new addition to MetraPark has been needed for quite a while,” Allen added.
Allen also added that NILE will be announcing soon an all-new rodeo type of entertainment package for the annual October NILE event in 2025. “We are not walking away from western sports being featured during the fall NILE show. We have a new and unique rodeo event that we will announce in 2025 for the October NILE event,” Allen stated.
