The following statement is from the Montana Farmers Union:
GREAT FALLS, MT (Dec. 3, 2012) – MFU President Alan Merrill released the following statement regarding the recent death of MFU Board member Dan Downs from Molt.
“It is with great sadness that I announce that our colleague and MFU board member Dan Downs was killed this past weekend in an automobile accident.
“Dan has served on the MFU board for the past 12 years, and very well represented his constituents in District 5, which encompassed the counties of Carbon, Fergus, Golden Valley, Musselshell, Petroleum, Stillwater, Sweet Grass, Wheatland and Yellowstone. In addition, he served on the Executive Committee since 2011.
“Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Dan’s family and his many friends. He will be greatly missed.
“The MFU staff plan to plant a tree at the MFU Arrowpeak Camp facility this spring as a living memorial. The funeral service is Wednesday, December 5, 2012, and the MFU state office will be closed in Dan’s memory.”
