Midwest Dairy South Dakota District Meetings, Brooking SD

by

BROOKINGS, S.D.  – Midwest Dairy Association’s South Dakota Division Districts 1 and 2 annual meetings will be held Feb. 4 at the Days Inn, Brookings, in conjunction with a Crisis Readiness Workshop and the South Dakota Dairy Producers annual meeting that evening. All dairy farmers in South Dakota lie either in District 1 or 2.

Dairy farmers are invited to attend in order to receive updates on their dairy promotion checkoff program activities and to help their farm prepare for the potential of crisis situations that could affect their dairy.

The District meetings begin at 11:30 a.m. and include a complementary lunch. The workshop follows at 1 p.m.

The crisis readiness workshop, titled “Preparing for the Unexpected,” is one of the resources offered by Midwest Dairy Association. It includes a workbook giving farmers ideas on how to prepare for unexpected challenges and a discussion of how to get help in a crisis.

Each of the two District promotion groups will also hold brief meetings to review budget, select leaders on the District and Division boards, and discuss other business for the coming year. A presentation will feature information about the checkoff’s work on the food insecurity issue, its partnerships with companies like McDonald’s and Domino’s, and a spotlight on South Dakota activities.

“This is a great opportunity to talk with the dairy farmers who serve on the board of Midwest Dairy, and to ask questions about the work we do,” said Roger Scheibe, senior manager of industry relations for Midwest Dairy.
No RSVPs are required. For more information, contact Roger Scheibe at 605-692-1775 or email rscheibe@midwestdairy.com.
