Missoula Wolf Hearing Draws Protests

by

While Judge Donald Molloy was inside a Missoula, Montana courtroom on Wednesday, protesters were outside.  The judge is currently in the midst of deciding whether or not Montana and Idaho’s wolves should be on the endangered species list.  In looking at video from the street, the voice from protesters was very pro-hunting.

In discussing the fact that Wyoming’s wolves are currently classified differently than those in Montana and Idaho, the AP reports that Judge Molloy stated that he “was having trouble accepting that the Endangered Species Act allows wolves in Wyoming to be separated from the rest of its distinct population segment.”

Reports are that each side is asking for a summary judgment.  This could end the court case before it goes to trial. The AP states that Molloy said he will make a ruling “as quickly as I can.”
