Jared and Leslie Long are the owners of Long's Livestock in Lewistown, MT. For the past seven years the Long's and their three children have created a show pig breeding program that focuses on the production of big bodied, sound, muscular pigs that are practical and functional. They strive to raise show pigs that set their customers apart in the show ring. Their hard work is really starting to pay off.
The Long's recently traveled to the World Pork Expo in Des Moines, IA. with three of their spotted gilts. There, they thought they would be the under dogs in the pig show. To their surprise, they had quite the successful experience that far exceeded their expectations.
Jared and Leslie are both educators at Fergus High School in Lewistown, MT. Leslie teaches Resource Education. Jared teaches Agricultural Education and is the FFA advisor. Jared also coached the Fergus FFA Chapter to their first National Championship in 2011 when the team won the National FFA Mechanics CDE.
