Montana Ag Education Specialist Position Opening

by

Montana is in search of a new Ag Ed Specialist at the Office of Public Instruction. Shannon Boswell who has held the title at OPI since 2017 announced yesterday that she has accepted a different position of “Transition Education Specialist”.

The new position was created as a dual agency position with office of the Commissioner of Higher Education. It will connect both Montana high school and college pathways to careers.   Boswell says she will still be working with Montana Career Technical and Adult Education (CTAE division) in areas such as dual credit programs, work-based learning, CTE marketing and teacher recruitment and retention. Duties for Boswell will also include working with school administrators and counselors to have a better understanding of the Career, Adult and Technical programs and career counseling.

Shannon came from Doddridge, West Virginia with 13 years of experience as their Ag Ed Instructor and FFA Advisor. In a high school of 350 students Shannon led community-based support to expand laboratory space by 3000 square feet, adding a new school greenhouse, and an animal processing facility. Boswell continued her success in collaboration with the state of Montana by adding many new High School Ag programs and FFA Chapters in the last few years, so it is an exciting time for Ag Education!
