Montana Grain Growers 63rd Annual Convention

by

Montana Grain Growers will hold their 63rd Annual Convention & Trade Show Tuesday November 27th through Thursday November 29th at the Best Western Heritage Inn in Great Falls.

Sessions begin Tuesday, November 27, at 8:00 am with a full-day deep-dive workshop on grain marketing tailored to Montana grain producers at all levels of marketing experience.

On Wednesday, Nov 28, bring your questions to our early morning session 'A Conversation with MSU Plant Breeders' starting at 7:15 am and put together by the folks at the Montana Wheat & Barley Committe as an opportunity for growers to provide direct feedback on the direction of variety development at MSU. Dr. Phil Bruckner and Dr. Jason Cook will discuss current efforts on Wheat Stem Sawfly resistance, aluminum tolerance and fusariaum head blight along with new combinations of traits and integration of the new CoAXium wheat system. Phil and Jason want to hear your thoughts during a Q&A on how to balance end-use quality with other agronomic traits, whether there is a future for hybrid wheat in MT, if there is interest in small-scale 'niche' variety releases and other thoughts on the future of the MSU breeding program.

Immediately following this session we'll hear from Jason Hafemeister, Trade Counsel to the US Secretary of Agriculture. Jason is on the front lines of the administration's efforts on agricultural trade developments and has a wealth of experience and information to share with us.
