BOZEMAN, Mont. — The Montana Pulse Crop Committee (MPCC) is inviting proposals for market development and educational projects designed to strengthen and expand Montana’s pulse crop industry.
The 2026 Request for Proposals (RFP) supports initiatives with practical, near-term applications that promote pulse crop markets, expand domestic and international opportunities, and provide education that benefits Montana growers and the broader pulse industry. Funding awards will be determined by the Montana Pulse Crop Committee.
Eligible applicants include public and private agencies, businesses, educational institutions, state and local governments, and individuals. Joint proposals are welcome and should be submitted as a single application by co-applicants.
Proposals under the marketing and education program will open Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025. Fully completed applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Feb. 16, 2026, through the State of Montana’s WebGrants system.
As part of the review process, the Montana Pulse Crop Committee will hear presentations from selected applicants during its annual meeting, scheduled for March 2 through March 4 in Bozeman, Montana. Following these presentations, the committee will determine which projects will receive funding. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions within 60 days of the meeting.
Eligible project costs may include salaries and wages, consultant services, travel, advertising and promotion, equipment, supplies, communications, and data processing. Program funds may not be used for institutional overhead or unrelated indirect costs.
Projects focused specifically on pulse research are administered separately through USA Pulses. Research proposals should be directed to the USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council, as outlined in the RFP materials.
Questions regarding the RFP may be directed to Montana Pulse Crop Research & Marketing, Montana Department of Agriculture, at (406) 444-2402 or via email to Danielle.Jones@mt.gov. You can also find more information online at https://agr.mt.gov/Topics/N-P/Pulse-Crop-Pages/RFP.
