BILLINGS, MT (October 25, 2016) – This fall its becoming more apparent that growers across America and here at home want some changes to the new Farm Bill when it comes to payments in times of low prices like we’re seeing now.
During the Montana Farmers Union Convention in Great Falls, one of this year’s featured speakers was Texas A&M University Ag Economist Dr. Joe Outlaw. He also serves as the Co-Director of the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University.
In this role, Dr. Outlaw frequently interacts with members of Congress and key agricultural committee staff to provide feedback on the likely consequences of agricultural policy changes.
He talked with the Northern Ag Network’s Russell Nemetz at the MFU Convention about possible changes in the 2018 Farm Bill’s safety net payments.
