According to the Big Sky Business Journal, a Recent Colorado study looking at the “Agribusiness Friendliness Index” ranked Montana 8th overall in fostering agribusiness. However, when they weighted that ranking by significant factors such as onerous environmental regulations, Montana slipped to 14th.
In the number one spot was neighboring South Dakota. California ranked last. Big Sky Business Journal reports that, in general, Great Plains states ranked high in the study.
