Press Release from the Montana Farm Bureau Foundation

There is still time for youth under age 18 to enter the Montana Farm Bureau Foundation Speech Contest. The  12th Annual Youth Speech Contest will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9 during the MFBF Annual Convention at the Billing Hotel and Convention Center.

This year’s question: What are the current impacts on the agricultural industry from state and federal regulatory agencies? Areas of discussion could include positive and negative impacts on agriculture; regulatory issues such as the Endangered Species Act, Waters of the U.S., etc.

There are two divisions: the Junior Division is ages 13 and under, with the Senior Division ages 14-18. First place in each division receives $400; second place receives $250 and third place, $100.

“This is a great way for a young people to hone their speaking skills, learn about agriculture, and win money,” said Scott Kulbeck, MFB Foundation coordinator. “All of the participants in the past have seen the value by taking part in this competition. Furthermore, what kid wouldn’t want to win $400?”
