Stock Growers Gather In Casper, Wyoming

The 2010 Wyoming Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show will be held June 2nd-5th at the Parkway Plaza in Casper. The convention’s theme is “Under the Constitution” and will include presentations and discussions on issues facing the cattle industry. Though the event is hosted by the Wyoming Stock Growers Association (WSGA), non-members are welcome to attend. Other convention partners are the Wyoming Stock Growers Agricultural Land Trust and the Wyoming CattleWomen.

The convention will kick off at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday the 2nd with a welcome barbeque.

The open general session will feature keynote speaker Jim Owen. Jim is the producer of the recent documentary “The Code of the West- Alive and Well in Wyoming.” Members the film’s production crew will interview WSGA members and their families to record their thoughts on Wyoming’s new state code.

Committee meetings will also be held Thursday, as well as CattleWomen meetings, and an evening reception and auction.

The annual Prayer Breakfast will commence Friday morning, followed by a general session that will include reports from WSGA’s partner organizations. A panel on estate planning will follow with presentations by attorney Galen West, conservation easement and tax specialist Tim Lindstrom, and the University of Wyoming Foundation Director of

Planning Giving Tracy Richardson.

The annual Awards Luncheon, sponsored by EnCana Oil & Gas USA, will take place at noon on Friday. Friday’s program will conclude with a banquet featuring the installation of new officers and recognition of outgoing officers.

Saturday’s Roundup Breakfast will feature invited speakers Senator Mike Enzi, Senator John Barrasso, and Representative Cynthia Lummis, followed by a candidate forum.

The convention will adjourn with Saturday’s general session speakers Caroline Lobdell with the Western Resources Legal Center, and Sheriff Richard Mack.
