‘Stop the Ban’ Needs Your Help

by Andy Schwab

A ballot measure in Denver this November could shutdown one of the nation’s largest lamb processing plants. If passed by voters in Colorado’s largest city, the ordinance would prohibit slaughterhouses, and, in connection, beginning January 1, 2026, prohibit the construction, maintenance, or use of slaughterhouses within the city. It would also require the city to prioritize residents whose employment is affected by the ordinance in workforce training or employment assistance programs.

For that reason, a website has been developed by the group, Stop the Ban. Protect Jobs. In addition, the campaign is looking for volunteers to add a handwritten message to preaddressed postcards to Denver voters.

A packet of 50 postcards will be mailed to you with instructions and a return envelope. You’ll add the message to the cards – it takes about two hours on average – and mail them back to the campaign office by Sept. 20. The campaign will then mail the postcards to voters in October.

The American Sheep Industry Association said in their weekly newsletter, studies have proven handwritten appeals to voters are extremely effective. Your help is critical to the plan to defeat this ballot measure.

You can learn more about the proposed ban and it’s affects by visiting the campaign’s website.
