Where are the largest seedstock ranches in the nation located? More than a third of them are right here in Northern Ag Network country.
Beef magazine recently released the annual listing of the biggest seedstock operations in the industry. The Seedstock 100 ranks the operations by number of bulls sold in 2019.
Quite a few familiar names on that list and 35 of the ranches are located in states served by Northern Ag Network. 17 are located in Montana, 10 in South Dakota, 5 in Wyoming and 3 in North Dakota.
These 100 operations marketed more than 56,000 bulls last year, actually pretty close to the same level as in 2018. Of course, angus continues to be the most commonly offered breed. Still a lot of other breeds represented with the most common being red angus, hereford, sim-angus, charolais and simmental.
Below are the 20 largest seedstock operations. To view the complete list, head over to Beef Magazine.
