Wave Goodbye to the Food Pyramid!

USDA will soon unveil a new food icon that is designed to help consumers make healthier food choices. It will replace the MyPyramid image as the government’s primary food group symbol. USDA says the new food icon will be easy to understand and serve as a visual cue that helps consumers adopt healthy eating habits consistent with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. The image will be part of a comprehensive nutrition communication initiative that provides consumers with easy-to-understand recommendations, a new website with expanded information and other tools and resources.

It is expected that this unveil will take place on Thursday, June 2.
