The Bureau of Land Management announced Tuesday that it will conduct a formal study of a proposed land exchange with Wilks Ranch Ltd., owned by Farris and Dan Wilks, which the agency says could lead to more access to public land.
The BLM has received a preliminary proposal to exchange private and public land in Blaine, Fergus and Musselshell counties from Wilks Ranch, the agency said.
The preliminary proposal is the result of discussions between the Wilks Ranch and the BLM, the agency said.
“Now that a preliminary proposal has been received, we want to enlist the help of all interested parties in assessing possible ways forward,” Stan Benes, the manager of the BLM’s Central Montana District, said in a statement
