Busy Fall Planned for Montana FFA

by

The Montana State FFA officers are having a busy fall already. The officer team is traveling across the state conducting District Leadership Conferences and will reach almost every chapter in 2 weeks. They made time to stop by Northern Ag Network though and share with us what they have going on.

The District Leadership Conference focuses on leadership and personal development workshops for FFA members. The conference is the kick off to the new year each fall, and a chance for state officers and members alike to network with chapters in their region, and develop team skills for the year ahead.

Montana FFA continues to grow each year and now has nearly 5,000 members. With three new chapters added this year in Terry, Fort Benton, and Three Forks there are now 94 FFA chapters.

Of course the fall is a busy time for FFA members, they will flood Billings next month for the NILE. Members from across the state will come to participate in Sales & Service and the livestock judging competition.

Then at the end of October the 90th National FFA Convention will be held in Indianapolis. This is the largest convention in the nation next to the republican and democratic national conventions with over 60,000 expected to attend.

And in November members will head to Bozeman for the John Deere Ag Expo on the MSU campus. The event will consist of leadership conferences, career development events and tours of the campus with over 1,500 FFA members expected to arrive.

We were very excited to have the state officers stop by. President Sheridan Johnson even rattled off the creed for us on KGHL radio. And best of all I learned that all 8 of the state officers are fighting bobcats attending MSU this fall.
