The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology released a report this week based on public polling, food safety data, testing data and evaluations concluding there’s no science-based reason to singly out genetically modified organisms for labeling.
In the report – the authors say the dialogue on GMO issues needs to be renewed to focus on more fact-based information.
The report shows the costs of mandatory food labels would vary widely depending on how food manufacturers respond to a hypothetical labeling rule from FDA. The report also finds that GMOs are safe for human consumption.
