A Choteau rancher shot and killed a black bear that broken into his home Monday night.
“It was dark out. I was headed for the light switch when it ran across ahead of me,” Lane Yeager said. “That’s when I knew I had an issue.”
Yeager returned home at about 9 p.m. to find the bear had raided his pantry and explored his home.
The bear had been tagged, so Yeager figures it gave someone else trouble before.
“I killed it so someone else wouldn’t have to,” he said. “We’re fat with grizzlies, but the black bear was off the beaten path.”
