2026 University of Montana Western Colt Challenge

Join the University of Montana Western and the Montana Center for Horsemanship in Dillon for the annual Colt Challenge & Sale, March 27–28, 2026. Watch equine students showcase their horsemanship skills during the Colt Challenge on Friday at 9:00 a.m., then return Saturday for the preview at 9:30 a.m., lunch at 11:30 a.m., and the live sale at 1:00 p.m. The offering features young colts trained for approximately 80 days by students in Montana Western’s Natural Horsemanship program, preparing them for ranch work and riding. Proceeds from the sale support scholarships and the continued development of the program.
