MFU Women’s Tractor Workshop
Tractor Maintenance Workshop for Ladies Who Ag
A tractor maintenance workshop for women taught by Cindy Arnot will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22, at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds.
Feedback during a Ladies Who Ag networking event with Montana Farmers Union earlier this year sparked the idea for the class.
“When we held the first Ladies Who Ag in May, we asked the women to identify something that they needed or something that would help them. The response was about unanimous – how to use and fix equipment,” MFU Membership Ambassador Carissa McNamara said.
“For example, there were a couple of gals there who had a farm and needed to buy a tractor and had no place to start. When they bought the tractor, they realized they weren’t strong enough to change out implements, but knew they could if they knew the proper technique. They just needed someone to teach them,” McNamara said.
Class participants will learn: basic overview of the tractor engine, system, and parts; regular upkeep, preseason look-over, and daily walk-around; safe operation and tool use; observing and diagnosing issues; and home maintenance
Ladies are encouraged to bring their own tractors if they want. Please wear closed toed shoes and come ready to get dirty.
The class is free for Montana Farmers Union members or $30 for non-members. Snacks and refreshments provided.
