GREAT FALLS, Mont. — State and federal wildlife officials are trying to catch a grizzly bear that killed livestock along the Rocky Mountain Front, while another one is being given a second chance to stay in the area.
Steve DeMers with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services says two bears killed three goats last weekend north of Simms. The Great Falls Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/M6unOE ) one bear was captured late Wednesday or early Thursday. It is being held in a culvert trap in an effort to lure its sibling into a second trap.
Separately, a female grizzly killed 10 sheep Sunday at a Hutterite colony between Conrad and Dupuyer.
Officials hope the cub will reunite with its mother and both can be monitored.
