PHOTO OF HAVRE FLOOD 1938

Floods have always been a part of history. They are a big part of today’s headlines. In June of 1938 a flood in Havre wiped out a bridge and left a car submerged in the muck. The newspaper clippings file in the MHS Research Center is crowded with stories about past floods and the human and economic toll they take. Mother Nature brings the land back to life each spring, and also reminds us of her power.
