The Marias River Livestock Association says it is deeply concerned by recent proposals to intervene in domestic beef pricing and expand imports. The group says the terms proposed by the Trump Administration put U.S. cattle producers at a disadvantage.
In a press release, Marias River Livestock said, “Montana’s ranching families have long relied on fair and transparent markets, free from political influence, to sustain their operations and rural communities.”
“Market interference and increased imports from countries with differing animal health and traceability standards threaten the stability of our beef supply chain. Montana ranchers take pride in producing the safest, highest quality beef in the world, and they deserve a market that reflects that commitment.”
Marias River Livestock says they are urging policymakers to prioritize American ranching families and to ensure that beef prices continue to be determined by market demand rather than government action.
“Policies that disrupt this balance, risk long-term hard to rural economies and to consumer confidence in U.S. beef,” the association said.
This issue will be a key topic to be discussed at Marias River Livestock’s annual meeting and Prime Rib & Rib Tickler Dinner this Saturday November 1, in Shelby, MT at the Marias Valley Golf Course Clubhouse.
The meeting will feature guest speakers Esther Rodriguez Peterson of Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks FWP to discuss current Habitat Conservation Lease Proposal as well as Korey Fauque of KW Insurance. MRLA President Dean Lerum will also give a summary on what the organization has done throughout the year.
The Prime Rib and Rib Tickler social hour starts at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include a 50/50 raffle, live auctions, door prizes, and live music from Hinsdale, MT rancher Chisholm Christensen.
