Montana’s barley industry is getting an early Christmas present with the announcement from MillerCoors that the company plans to build a new 3.4 million bushel elevator near Power in Montana’s Golden Triangle.
Wade Malchow is Manger of Barley-Elevator Operations for MillerCoors and this morning the Northern Ag Network’s Russell Nemetz talked with him about this exciting news.
Demand for barley is directly tied to beer sales and Wade Malchow says MillerCoors wants to keep its customers happy.
Erik Somerfeld farms near Power, MT and told the Northern Ag Network's Russell Nemetz having another option when selling grain is always a good thing.
The new MillerCoors elevator will also be a positive addition to the town of Power and surrounding area too.
Construction is set to begin in early 2013 with completion expected later that year. The new Power elevator will help strengthen the existing MillerCoors barley program in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.
The Northern Ag Network's Russell Nemetz also interviewed Steve Rockhold with MillerCoors on television about the new elevator.
