HAVRE, MT — The 2025 “For the Farmers” Tour kicked off with overwhelming support in Hill County on Wednesday, August 6, beginning with a full crowd at the Northern Agricultural Research Center. The day launched with a live broadcast of Voices of Montana, hosted by Tom Schultz of Northern Broadcasting, featuring a wide-ranging conversation with local leaders on agriculture, water, media, and innovation.
The broadcast lineup included Dr. Darrin Boss with the Northern Ag Research Center and Dr. Ricardo Pinto from Precision Agriculture, Jennifer Patrick with the Milk River Joint Board of Control, Kyle Leeds of New Media Broadcasting and Hill County Commissioner Jake Strissel, Eddie Scheiber and Perry Johnston of CHS Big Sky and Krista Lee Evans of Montana Renewables.
Community members were invited to attend the live show and helped set the tone for a day filled with appreciation, connection, and celebration of Montana’s producers.
Following the broadcast, a convoy of 15 vehicles set out across the Hi-Line to personally thank local farm families. Visits to the farms included stops at Brad Gregoire, Chad and Ryan McCormick, Todd Hansen, Tyler and Melissa Kapperud, and Dave and Katie Sattoriva. At each stop, families received t-shirts, lunches from Stokes Market in Havre, cold drinks from Havre Distributors, and harvest ‘Survival Kits’ stocked with snacks, swag, and goods to support them during harvest.
Although only five farms could be visited during the day, several additional families were nominated by their communities. Tour organizers expressed deep appreciation for all nominees and emphasized that time constraints prevented visits to every deserving farm.
Many producers in the region have faced weather challenges that have slowed down harvest. Still, the tour team was glad to catch a few combines in action.
The day concluded with a public social at the Hi-Way Bar in Hingham, hosted by Havre Distributors, bringing together community members, sponsors, and farm families for a toast to agriculture.
This event was made possible through the generous support of numerous sponsors and in kind donors. Key contributors included Havre Distributors, the Northern Ag Research Center, Pinion Global, Montana Renewables, Stockman Bank, Farmers Union Insurance, Mountain West Farm Bureau Mutal Insurance, Duchscher Kapperud Insurance, Torgerson’s Equipment, and CHS Big Sky. The tour also received support from the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce, and field representatives from Congressman Troy Downing’s and Senator Steve Daines’ offices.
In-kind donations and production support were provided by Agri Studios, Montana Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, Stokes Market, New Media Broadcasters, and Mosaic Threads.
The “For the Farmers” tour continues Wednesday, September 10, in Yellowstone and Stillwater Counties. The day will end with a celebration at the High Horse Saloon in Billings featuring a live remote by KGHL, a social hosted with Watkins Distributing, and live music.
