Mt Dept of Ag Marketing Outreach Session, Miles City MT

Sessions will assist Montana companies with marketing and business development

Sidney, Mont. – The Montana Department of Agriculture (MDA) will hold several marketing outreach sessions across eastern Montana to identify the needs of Montana’s food and agriculture businesses and aid in marketing efforts. Each regional visit will include one-on-one meetings, listening lunches open to all companies, and an evening agricultural listening session to discuss broader agricultural issues.

“Montana’s agricultural heritage is rich and proud,” said Governor Steve Bullock. “Through this outreach we will continue to build a growing and diverse economy that values and promotes Montana’s food and agriculture industries and offer tools and assistance that will inspire future generations of farmers and ranchers.”

“This is a great opportunity for folks to meet with our marketing and development team to find out how the Department can help their businesses grow and reach new markets,” said MDA Director Ron de Yong. “This is the first of several outreach efforts the Department is making over the fall as we work to reach every corner of Montana.”

Governor Bullock launched the Main Street Montana Project in 2013. The Main Street Food and Agriculture Key Industry Network recommended that Governor Bullock’s administration share promotional and educational resources to increase demand and use of Montana food and agricultural products. The marketing outreach sessions will help Montana farmers, ranchers, and business owners guide the State of Montana’s efforts to help them grow their business, reach new markets, and create more good-paying jobs for Montanans.

Listening lunches, which are free and open to the public, will be held in the following locations:

·         8/22 – Sidney – MSU Richland County Extension Office, 1499 N Central Ave, 12-1pm

·         8/23 – Glendive – Dawson Community College Toepke Center, 300 College Drive 11:30am – 12:30pm

·         8/24 – Miles City – Airport Inn, Yellowstone Hill, 11:30am-12:30pm

Additionally, an agricultural listening session, which will address broader agricultural issues affecting the area, will be held on Wednesday night from 7-9 pm at Fort Keogh in Miles City (243 Fort Keogh Road). This event is also free and the public is encouraged to attend to share their perspective on food and agriculture in Eastern Montana. A detailed agenda is included with this release.

This marketing outreach effort is the first of many to be held this fall across the state. The outreach will allow MDA the opportunity to visit with food and agriculture companies in order to better understand their marketing and business needs both as individual enterprises and as an industry. By taking the pulse of the agriculture community from the Eastern plains to the Western mountains, the department plans to use the findings of this outreach to create and enhance programs, services and campaigns that will better serve Montana’s food and agriculture industries.
