According to Meatingplace, the National Animal Health Laboratory network has reported 191 of 801 tests conducted at 10 veterinary diagnostic labs during the week ending May 3rd tested positive for PEDV. That means a total of 6,421 PEDV cases have been confirmed since last May.
So far the number of states reporting at least one confirmed case stands at 29. National Pork Producers Council President Howard Hill says the virus could increase U.S. hog prices by 15 to 25-percent and pork prices for consumers by 10 to 12-percent.
