WPXI reports:
Georgia rancher Keith Mitcham believes one or two dogs may be responsible for the deaths of 21 cows over the past few months.
According to Mitcham, the cattle were run so hard that they simply collapsed and died of exhaustion, which is what lead him to believe it was dogs and not coyotes since the livestock are not being eaten. He noted that several calves had their ears chewed off.
Mitcham estimates between the deaths of 21 cows and the expense of fences that were tore down by running cattle, this has cost him more than $20,000
Mitcham says he has contacted animal control officials and got a trap. He did catch a dog, but had to return it to its owners since he didn't have any proof it was involved.
