Rock Springs Wild Horse Holding Facility Reopens with Adoption Event
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Rock Springs Wild Horse Holding Facility will reopen on Feb. 23, and will hold an adoption on Feb. 27 and 28.
“We have lots of wild horses in need of a good home,” said BLM Wyoming Adoption Coordinator Amy Ruhs. “Folks who put in the time and effort to adopt and train a wild horse are rewarded with a sensible, alert, loyal, surefooted and hardy animal.”
Friday, Feb. 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 28, from 8 a.m. until noon, wild horses which includes weanlings and untrained geldings and mares, will be available for preview and adoption. BLM specialists will be on hand to answer questions and assist with adoption applications. All horses will be available for an adoption fee of $125.
In 2014, the Rock Springs Wild Horse Holding Facility had 30 horses adopted; statewide there were 97 horses adopted.
The wild horse facility is located on Lionkol Road east off of north Elk Street/north Highway 191.
