The following article is from Al Gustin of KFYR and KBMR in Bismarck, North Dakota:
Some of the lambs that will be born in the Dakotas this year will be from Texas ewes. Because of severe drought – Texas producers were forced to sell all or part of their flocks.
North Dakota State University Sheep Specialist Reed Reddin says he knows of at least a thousand Texas ewes that were shipped to North Dakota – and maybe twice that many to South Dakota.
Oliver County, North Dakota Producer Wyman Scheetz got some of those ewes.
Scheetz says those ewes will start lambing at the end of March.
