Hearings in D.C. Showing Implications in Northern Ag States
This week, a couple of Senate hearings where held to clarify key positions for cabinet members along with another hearing discussing Waters of the US rules.

In the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) secured commitments from Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Director nominee Stevan Pearce to help ensure BLM field offices in Wyoming remain open long-term and amend the Biden administration’s Rock Springs Resource Management Plan (RMP) to free up millions of acres of land in southwest Wyoming for multiple-use.  

The Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee also held a hearing to discuss the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Civil Works Program and policies under consideration for the Water Resources Development Act of 2026. The hearing featured testimony from Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Adam Telle who talked about what is needed in the WOTUS Rule.
