In cooperation with a producer-driven advisory committee, the Montana Department of Agriculture will soon deliver paper ballots to known Montana canola growers to voice their opinion on the establishment of a $0.10 per hundredweight ($0.05 per bushel) checkoff program.
The proposed checkoff is both voluntary and refundable. The estimated revenue based on current production figures will be approximately $265,000 annually. Funds will be used exclusively to support efforts to help grow the canola industry and fund Montana-specific research projects.
Project funding decisions will be made by a five-member grower committee, supported by advisors from Montana State University, the Montana Department of Agriculture, and the canola industry. Public participation is always welcome. To ensure you receive a ballot, you may provide your email address to the Department at the following link.
Complete ballot sign-up instructions will be provided by email.
