What ID Will Cattle Need for CO, NB?

by

Concern about brucellosis is prompting the state of Colorado to impose tougher identification requirements for cattle that have spent time in the Yellowstone region in Wyoming, Idaho and Nebraska.  Nebraska is also working on similar requirements.

What does this mean for producers in the area?

Montana’s State Veterinarian, Dr. Marty Zaluski, outlined that calves leaving the area will need to have official ID.

He spoke about what that ID tag needs to be.

Dr. Zaluski reported the effective date for Colorado’s new rule is September 1st and that he believes Nebraska’s will become effective April 1st.
