Sweetness and Valentine's Day go hand in hand, be it in the form of candy or words, but there is a savory option as well. Try heart-shaped ribeyes for two, courtesy of Texas A&M's Rosenthal Meat Center.
Rosenthal, which is located on the west side of campus, sells the heart-shaped steaks each year in addition to its regular stock of beef, lamb, pork, sausage and Texas Aggie-branded beef jerky. The ribeyes are available on Rosenthal's website for $12.99 a pound, or customers can pick one out of the display case.
Store manager Mica Ham, A&M class of 2010, says getting the heart shape is actually fairly easy. The butcher makes the cut from the rib meat thicker than usual and butterflies it, essentially opening it up like a book. Last year, Rosenthal sold between 30 and 40 of the cuts.
