According to Cal Coast News, a steer was doused in lighter fluid at a California high school over the weekend and suffered significant burns.
They report that the owner of the steer, an FFA member and student at Paso Robles High School, arrived to feed the animal at a school barn on Saturday morning when the injuries were discovered. The animal is expected to survive.
Paso Robles police are investigating the crime. If arrested, the person or persons responsible could face charges of animal cruelty and torture which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
